What a great way to spend our last weekend in Germany. The weather was perfect – warm and sunny. Two BBQ’s in two days with more meat than we’ve eaten for our entire stay in Europe and the company of fantastic friends. It was right up there with the best time we’ve had for our whole trip.
We spent the weekend at Rose and Uli’s house near Tübingen. Our campervan knows its way there now and just slots in the driveway perfectly. We spent the afternoon sitting out in the sun enjoying first watermelon and then an enormous BBQ. After eating way too much Uli educated us in the benefits of drinking schnapps after dinner to help the digestion. Certainly helped the digestion, and along with the many beers made for a very good night’s sleep in the camper.
Saturday was big day at Cony and Frank’s a little further out in the country. We watched some of Lilli’s horse riding lesson ( of course the younger Mundys had to have a bit of a go as well) and then went for a walk to the edge of a hill/mountain/alb with spectacular views across the surrounding valley. Lilli and Annie managed to vaguely understand the garbled English and terrible German from the Mundy kids. It was beautiful walking through the farmland and the picnic was very much enjoyed. Somehow we are developing a reputation for eating a lot!
More sunshine in the afternoon, followed by many beers (more schnapps) and lots more meat on the barbie. The kids (including Uli) showed us their acrobatic skills on Lilli’s wooden horse. We had a fantastic time, despite the odd accident prone Mundy boy,and were all completely knackered by the end.
It was sad to leave in the end, but gave us the determination to definitely come back and visit again. maybe next time we’ll drag an extra Mundy or two along with us!
